It's amazing how little self esteem there is in our society. Of course, the marketers rely on this. They know that for every weakness they instill, they can sell a product to "solve" it. Unfortunately, the only people who can really teach self-esteem are parents. And even more unfortunately, these are the people most likely for witholding it.

True, the loss of priorities hurt. Children aged 12 will consider a plastic surgery, because they have no idea who they are.
We are not taught to define ourselves without a social context.
Regardless, there is nobody to teach us to do so except us, ourselves.
